January 2022 Sarabande newsletter

Re-invention, re-inoculation, re-circulation

Without further ado, let's get into this - the first Winechakra post since 2013!! It is time that I breathed some life into this old beast. As a new year's resolution I commit myself to writing a newsletter to our faithful supporters every month until I inevitably run out of steam!!

So here goes...

2022 So far

Pruning, that is what we have been doing in January of 2022! Well that and juggling kids through a never ending cycle of Covid-19 crisis. Our wee boy, Peter, tested positive a couple of weeks ago. He was a bit grumpy but besides that no symptoms. The rest of us tested negative, which adds to the theory that we have already had a form of the virus. Anyway it hasn't really effected us out here in the vinelands. As I said we are just getting on with the pruning and thinking about blending our 2021 wines.

2021 P.I.G. Wines

We have finalised the blends of our upcoming P.I.G. range of wines. P.I.G.Wines (Made by Paul and Isla Gordon, get it!) These are some cheeky wines made to enjoy every day but also wines that give you the complexity and balance that define our wines. We are really happy with the 2021 offerings. They are pure and focussed with a high level of drinkability. Look out for our Pink Swine Rosé, White Swine Marsanne and our Orange Swine. Orange wine is a wine made by fermenting the white wine with their skins, it is very cool! We are hoping for a Spring release.

Sarabande Plage is back

A date for your diary - Saturday January the 29th. This will be the first in what we hope will be a monthly event. Starting at our new cave at 11H00 we shall be doing a wee balade through our vines (about 1.5hr walk) followed by a lunch back in our newly renovated cellar door space. I am writing this in front of our newly installed wood burner which will keep us all nice and cosy after our walk. €20.00 per person which includes the guided balade, lunch with cheese. Wine will also be included of course and we will be opening some back vintage wines for you to try. Space is limited so please book quickly if you are interested. email paul@sarabande-wines.com.

Sarabande Wine club 2022

It has taken a lot of work to get our wine club back into some sort of working order. Brexit really effected our distribution channels which effected the UK and Ireland. That doubled with transport woes due to Covid-19 complications has caused us a lot of headaches. Some of you might remember that back in 2009 we launched our very first 'Investor scheme'. This was massively successful for us and it was then that we started building our very loyal Sarabande family who have helped us grow throughout some turbulent economic times. Now in 2022 we are launching our new Wine investment. This is available throughout Europe, the UK and Ireland. Please let us know if you are interested. It is a great chance to get our wines at very competitive rates and to help us continue in our adventure in the south of France!! Again contact us via email if you are interested.

Thank you those who have managed to read this far. Here's hoping for a happy, HEALTHY and positive 2022.

Stay safe and be kind!

Paul and Isla Gordon
